Crane Pad Stability Assessment

...

Piling Platform or Crane Pad Stability Assessment is carried out using data from the original ground investigation   or new in-situ testing, working (piling) platform designs and crane pad stability assessments can be undertaken.

Working platform design calculations are undertaken in accordance with BRE 470 or TFW2019 to determine the thickness of the platform, depending on the material used, with and without the use of geogrid. Depending on the requirements of the crane operator, settlement and bearing capacity calculations can be undertaken for the ground beneath the crane pads.

Crane stability always depends on the integrity of the ground on which it stands. Effective assessment of ground conditions is essential to assist with the safe set up and operation of cranes. To reduce the risk of crane accidents as a result of improper crane set up, planning activities shall be carried out by a competent person(s) to assess the capability of the ground to withstand the loads and pressures imposed by the lifting equipment.

The geotechnical engineering team at Oz Geos has carried out numerous crane pad and piling rig platform stability assessment. This assessment was carried out at various locations like urban setting to industrial area and even at sensitive areas like at petroleum refineries, sewage treatment plant etc. Our estimation of ground settlement is very precise and we can predict settlements for crane pads to gantries so that our client can rely on our computations and recommendations.
